Jacek Rogala, born in Brzeg in 1966, is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Wrocław where he studied composition with Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil (diploma with distinction in 1990) and conducting with Marek Pijarowski (1992).
In 1996, as a holder of Artur Rodziński conducting scholarship, he stayed with Cleveland Symphony Orchestra in the United States of America. In 1997 he was a laureate of the International Conductors' Competition "Pedro da Costa de Freitas Branco" in Lisbon. He performs at music festivals in Poland and also gives concerts abroad (across Europe and North America). He has conducted many first performances and has made recordings of contemporary composers' works as well as works considered to be lost. His recordings of Paweł Mykietyn's 3 for 13 (wth the Polish Radio Orchestra) as well as Tadeusz Wielecki's Concerto a rebours (together with Krzysztof Bąkowski and the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra) won prizes at the UNESCO International Composers' Tribune in Paris (1995 and 1999). He regularly records with the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra in Katowice (formely: the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra) and the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw; he has also worked with the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Cracow as well as the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.

Between 1989-92 he worked in the Musical Department of Polish Radio in Wrocław; between 1992-94 he acted as the plenipotentiary of the Minister of Culture and Art for the affairs of music; 1995-98 he was the head of the Contemporary Music Department of Polish Radio 2, with he is still connected. He was the artistic supervisor (together with L. Zielińska) of the International Festival of Music and Musical Animation of the 10th Biennale of Art for Children in Poznań (1995). as well as the "Grażyna Bacewicz's Days" Festival of Polish Radio and Television (1999). As of the 2001/2002 season Jacek Rogala has become the Artistic Director of the Oskar Kolberg Philharmonic Orchestra in Kielce.

Jacek Rogala composes symphonic, chamber, choral and electronic music; works for children occupy an esential place in his output.
